GEORGE BURCHETT
Born in Hanoi, Vietnam. His father was the well-known Australian
war correspondent Wilfred Burchett, (the first Western journalist in
Hiroshima after the 1945 atom bomb). His mother is the Bulgarian
art historian and journalist Vessa Ossikovska.
1974 Studied at Lycée Janson de Sailly and Atelier Martin (drawing) in
Paris.
1979 Master degree in mural art, Academy of Fine Arts (painting and mural
art) in Sofia, Bulgaria.
1979-84 Worked as a freelance artist in Sofia and Paris (exhibitions of
paintings, murals and illustrations for books).
1985 Worked as an Arts Advisor for the Aboriginal community of Maningrida in
Arnhem Land, N. T.
Since 1985 lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
